Eric Imly, CFP®
I work primarily with clients in the Kaiser Permanente community, as well as multiple generations of their family members.
Husband. Father. Financial Advisor. Advocate for Evidence-Based Investing.
I live in Southern California with my wife, Tracy and, when time permits, our daughters who are both in college. Tracy is a physician and leader within Kaiser Permanente, and over the years our life together has shaped the way I think about financial advice in profound ways.
When Tracy and I first met, she was an intern. From the very beginning I was struck by the way physicians are trained to think—constantly learning, building mental models, and making decisions based on evidence and experience. As Tracy advanced through residency, clinical practice, and eventually healthcare leadership, I watched those models become even more sophisticated as she worked to improve care for millions of patients.
Living alongside that process had a powerful influence on how I approach financial advising.
Over time, I became deeply immersed in the financial complexities faced by Kaiser Permanente physicians. Like many medical families, we were navigating demanding schedules, complex retirement plans, and unique compensation structures. Managing our own family finances led me to study the Kaiser system in detail—its pension programs, benefits structure, and the planning opportunities and pitfalls that come with them.
What began as managing our own family’s financial life soon became a calling.
I realized that many Kaiser Permanente physicians were underserved when it came to financial advice from professionals who truly understood the intricacies of their unique benefits and career paths. The deeper I went, the clearer it became that this community deserved advisors who specialize in their world.
Today, I focus my work on helping Kaiser Permanente physicians and their families make thoughtful financial decisions throughout their careers—from early practice through retirement. My goal is to simplify complex benefit structures, help physicians make informed decisions about their pensions and retirement plans, and build investment strategies designed to support the lives they are working so hard to build.
Much like the medical profession, I believe financial advice should be grounded in evidence, collaboration with trusted specialists, and a commitment to practicing what you recommend.
After all, the best outcomes—whether in medicine or finance—come from thoughtful decisions built on sound principles.
