Are we a fiduciary?
Of course. Don’t settle for less. A fiduciary is a person who puts your (the client’s) needs first. It’s all the buzz lately and it should be. There are so many ways for an advisor to put his or her needs in front of their clients. Some advisors are fiduciaries -some times, but they are in firms that allow them to switch back and forth. Not here. No way. For me, being a fiduciary is nothing new. I am fiduciary legally and ethically since 1998. Your best interests will always come first.
There are lots of ways to make money in the investing world. Different strategies work in different environments. The strategy that beats in one year may underperform the next four years. That’s the dynamics of our world. The world is constantly changing. Being informed of changes and considering different view points is essential to understanding the market and making solid investment choices.
Passive vs. Active
Isn’t it true that managers can’t consistently beat the market? Why try?—The rise of passive investing has left a lot of people asking if they should only buy index funds and then just move on. That is certainly one strategy and I think that index funds have a place in most portfolios. However, there is so much more to it than that! What if your risk level is lower or higher than market risk level? What if one sector consistently produces low or negative returns- do you just keep buying it like a machine? What do you sell to take income when you need it? Which passive fund do you buy? One size does not fit all and passive management can’t exist without active managers. Both passive and active management are tools in your portfolio to achieve your goals.
We create a custom portfolio for each client. Isn’t that too much? How do you manage it?
We start with five models that are based on risk level. Depending on you, we may stop there, with a model. But maybe, you have securities with significant tax implications upon sell or perhaps you have an investment with sentimental attachment. I can work with that. We modify the models to accommodate your specific circumstances We invest in stocks, bonds, ETFs and some institutional share mutual funds.
